Rising-stem flanged gate valves are a common type of gate valve. The following provides an overview of their structural features, operating principles, application scenarios, advantages and disadvantages:
Turning the handwheel or other drive device rotates the valve stem. The threaded structure of the valve stem converts this rotational motion into linear motion, thereby raising or lowering the gate disc. When the gate disc is fully raised, the valve is open, allowing the medium to pass freely. When the gate disc is fully lowered and tightly seated against the valve seat, the valve is closed, blocking the flow of the medium.
