Cryogenic shut-off valves are mainly used in pipeline systems carrying cryogenic media and in cryogenic environments. They feature flexible switching and reliable sealing. They typically employ a cryogenic extended shaft design to reduce cold energy transfer and prevent icing on the valve stem from affecting operation. The seals often utilize a soft-seal structure, making them suitable for cryogenic media such as liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen, and liquefied natural gas.

Shut-Off Valve Advantage
Sealing Reliability: At low temperatures, the medium is prone to vaporization, requiring valves to have a zero-leakage seal (often using soft seals such as PTFE modified materials or hard metal seals) to prevent medium leakage from causing cold loss or safety accidents.
Low-Temperature Shock Resistance: The valve material must be made of low-temperature resistant steel (such as stainless steel 304L or 316L, or special alloys such as Monel alloy) to avoid brittleness at low temperatures. An extended valve stem design is also used to prevent the valve stem from freezing and affecting operation.
Operational Flexibility: At low temperatures, lubricating oil is prone to solidification, requiring the use of low-temperature specialized lubricants or an oil-free design to ensure smooth operation of the valve handwheel/pneumatic/electric operation and rapid emergency shut-off.
